Inter Allies earned a gritty 1-0 win over Hearts of Oak in the Match Week 14 of the Zylofon Cash Premier League on Thursday afternoon at the Tema Sports Stadium.
The host began the game brightly and created some decent chances but failed to convert them in the first half.
However, they went ahead in the 20th minutes through ex-WAFA man, Richmond Lamptey who hit delicious strike just outside the Hearts’ 18 yard box after receiving a pass from a colleague at the right side of attack. The Phobians mounted severe pressure on Inter Allies in search of an equaliser after going down but the defense men of the Homesters stood resolute.
Hearts of Oak continued from where they left off in the second period as they committed more men forward desperately in need of a goal but Inter Allies remained solid, kept their shape, composure and disciplined as they held on with their solitary lead to snatch all three points.
The win send the Eleven-Is-One-Lads to third with 24 points from 13 games whereas the defeat keep the Phobians at the 12th position with 16 points.
Elsewhere, Akwasi Donsu and Kwame Boateng scored a brace each to give Medeama SC a resounding 4-1 win over sorry Wa All Stars at the T and A Park in Tarkwa. The Yellow and Mauves still top of the Table with 26 points.
At the Lenclay Stadium in Obuasi, forward, Shafui Mumuni scored the game’s only goal to hand the Miners a 1-0 win over Dreams FC. The victory still see the Obuasi-based team maintain their second spot on the log sheet.
West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) supporters and paying fans’ were left dejected after William Opoku Mensah scored a late goal to earn a decent away point for High-flying Karela United at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.
Liberty Professionals who were looking to move up the table were held to a frustrating 1-1 draw with Asante Kotoko at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman. Edwin Tuffour Frimpong put the host in infront via a penalty before captain, Amos Frimpong pulled parity also through a penalty to earn a vital point for his side.
On-loan Asante Kotoko striker, Yakubu Mohammed bagged a brace on his debut for Elmina Sharks but their lead was cancelled out by Amos Nkrumah’s double as they drew 2-2 with Ebusua Dwarfs at the Nduom Sports Complex.
Eleven Wonders beat Regional rivals, Berekum Chelsea 2-0 at the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman to climb up to 9th from 13th. Both goals were scored by Benjamin Owusu and Abdul Fatwau.
Finally, Aduana Stars posted a narrow 1-0 win over Bechem United at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa. Abu Sadiq netted the only goal of the game.
