The President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo has added his voice to the call of disbandment of vigilantism and political violence stating that the time has come for political violence and vigilantism to stop.
He made this statement on the floor of Parliament when he was delivering his third State of the Nation on Thursday. The President in his address noted that the Commission of Inquiry made up of independent panel will help unravel some the violence which have been recorded some weeks ago.
Citing the incident that erupted at the Ayawaso By-election and the recent shootings which claimed one life at the Ashanti Regional NDC Headquarters, the President hinted that, he had ordered the the leadership of the NPP and opposition party NDC to come together to put and end to vigilantism.
“I want to say that, we should all come together to agree on an appropriate way to bring an end to vigilantism “. he opined.
The President stated that, the peace and stability of the country is more important, hence politically motivated vigilante groups should not be allowed to ruin it, indicating that he is inviting leaders of both the NPP and NDC to find lasting solution to the situation.
