Inter Milan came back from the dead to send Tottenham Hotspur crashing to a third successive defeat having lost to Watford and Liverpool in their last two premier league games.
Spurs were heading for a Champions League victory until two goals in the final six minutes left them already facing an uphill battle to qualify from a Group B that also includes Barcelona.
Mauro Icardi had been anonymous until he equalised in the 86th minute with an unstoppable volley. And if that angered Pochettino, then Matias Vecino’s winner in the second minute of stoppage time will have sent him over the edge.
Stefan de Vrij headed a corner back towards goal and Vecino rose highest to nod it past Spurs goalkeeper Michel Vorm and send the San Siro wild.
Asamoah played full throttle for the Italian giants and provided the assist for Maurio Icardi’s equalizer that inspired Inter’s comeback.
Tottenham took the lead in the 53rd minute through Denmark international Christian Eriksen but Inter Milan cancelled the lead in the 86th minute when Argentina’s Maurio Icardi pounced on Kwadwo Asamoah’s cross to fetch the equalizer for the Italians before Matias Vecino sealed the victory with a header in stoppage time.
The former Juventus man started at left back for Luciano Spalleti’s side and proved to be a very instrumental figure with his teasing crosses and countless attacks throughout the 90 minutes.
Inter Milan are second on the table pegged on 3 points with Barcelona who top the group on goal difference after hitting PSV Eindhoven for 4 at the Camp Nou.
