Traders on pavements at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, seems to have found new ways of defying the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s (AMA) orders, as they have bounced back into business after the decongestion exercise.
This was evident as Ghanacrusader.com stormed the Kwame Nkrumah circle market, to ascertain the progress so far, after the decongestion exercise the traders stand on the pavements with a few of their wares to display to customers .
When questioned on why they adopted this strategy to complained that, where they have been assigned by the AMA to sell their wares they are not seen, attracting low patronage.
They further disclosed that, its is their quest to make ends meet at circle and survival that is pushing them to no matter what defy the AMA’s orders .
Some traders also attributed their defiance to the fact, the Kwame Nkrumah Circle has a huge customer base and cant afford to loose that .
The Accra Metropolitan Assembly have been in a tussle to rid the Kwame Nkrumah Circle pavements of these traders but it always end up as a nine day wonder as the traders come back to the same spot after the exercise.
The traders are however pushing for a proper negotiation with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly to find a lasting solution to this problem .
