It looks like the world is heading towards the Jetsons space-age concept faster than we thought. Smart phones over the decade has changed the way we communicate and interact with each other. And soon, flying cars will be added to the numerous ways in which technology is changing our lives on the daily.
The flying car concept which was on Tuesday, 8th May, 2017 unveiled at the Elevate Summit. The Elevate Summit is a two day programming annual event, which brings together over 700 people drawn from government, academia and the biggest leaders and industry players in the aviation space. This year’s event event was held at the Skirball Centre in Los Angeles, California.
During the event, Uber and announced they will be joining forces to simulate air taxis in urban areas. According to CNN Tech report, Uber unveiled plans to develop electric flying cars to help improve transportation in cities, alleviate congestion and provide affordable transportation. NASA became a partner for the program a year later by developing air traffic management for a fleet of flying cars.
A demo flight plan is expected to begin in 2020 and by 2023, commercial trips will be made available. For tech lovers and science fiction fanatics, this is obviously good news since we can experience a piece of sci-fi in real life instead of movies and or cartoons.
