Newly appointed head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Charles K. Akunnor admits that assuming the role as head coach of the kumasi based side is the biggest challenge in his coaching career.
The former Black Stars captain signed a 3-year contract with the club last Monday to take charge of the first team as head coach.He replaces Paa Kwesi Fabin who resigned from his post last month.
Akunnor was unveiled by Asante Kotoko on Wednesday afternoon at the Sports Hotel in Kumasi , and speaking to the media for the first time as head coach of the club,he admitted that this is his biggest challenge as a manager and has promised to give his best to help the club achieve its target.
“…..this is a journey which is very tough and I must say this is the biggest challenge that I have ever had in my coaching career and I believe that the God who has started with me will see me through this. It is another journey ,another test and I know that definitely I will pass”.He told the media.
Earlier this week, club Chief Executive Officer(C.E.O) Mr George Amoako said winning the CAF Champions league or confederation cup is the target set for the former Ashantigold coach within his three years stay at the club.
But 44-year-old thinks he will need the support and patience of the management , fans and everyone involved at the club to achieve the said target.
“We have to do a lot of things for us to achieve the target and I think my CEO also made mention of it,it is an achievable target and we would have to work hard towards it”. He added.
