Team manager of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah was honoured by Fenerbahce before the Istanbul derby yesterday at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
Fenerbahce drew 1-1 with Besiktas .Current Black Stars deputy skipper, Andre Ayew, scored in the 71st minute to cancel Ryan Babel’s 40th minute goal.
Before the match, Fenerbahce honoured some of their former players including the ex-Black Stars skipper.
Stephen Appiah played for the team between 2005 and 2008.
The former Juventus man led Ghana to make its first ever world cup appearance in Germany(2006).
He was also part of the team that made it to the 2010 FIFA World Cup quarter finals in South Africa.
Appiah ended his football career in Italy with Vojvodina in 2012.
