Ghanaian artiste, Shatta Wale has pleaded for votes to win the ultimate award at the upcoming Ghana Music Awards.
On Saturday, on April 6, during his set at the Nominee jams held at the Kumasi City Mall, The 2019 3Music Awards Music Man of the year called on his fans to vote for him to win the ‘Artiste of the Year’ at this year’s edition of the awards scheme.
“As you are clapping for me, make sure you are voting. Vote for me so that I can come back to Kumasi and play a show for you. Vote for me so that we can celebrate,” stated Wale.“It’s been long since we won Artiste of the Year and it won’t be bad if we win it again hands down.
”The ‘Gringo’ act is competing with Stonebwoy, Joe Mettle, Kuami Eugene, King Promise and Sarkodie for the award. The main awards night will be held on May 18 at a yet-to-be announced venue.In 2013, he was banned by organizers, CharterHouse for among other issues impugning the integrity of the board and organizers of the awards scheme.
After losing out on the ‘Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year award to Kaakie, Wale called out the former and the organizers all sorts of derogatory and unprintable names.He also recorded videos in which he called CharterHouse and its then Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Iyiola Ayoade names, leading to a defamation suit which has been settled.
