The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Advisory Unit at the Office of the President is organizing a nationwide raffle dubbed, “Yes to the SDGs.”

The raffle, managed by Mobile Content, will provide platform for educating the general Ghanaian public about the SDGs and offer opportunity to win weekly prizes and an ultimate prize of a Mahindra KUV Car donated by Svani Group Limited.

The raffle will be in the form of texting correct responses to SDGs related questions to a specified short code (*713*14#).
The launch took place at the premises of TV3 Network and was attended by representatives of Svani Group Ltd, management of Media General, Gaming Commission, the University of Ghana, students, pupil and the general public.
Head of the SDGs Advisory Unit and Special Advisor to the President on the SDGs, Dr. Eugene Owusu stated during the launch that the National SDGs raffle is a collective effort to popularize the global goals and show they are central to the country’s efforts to achieve transformational development and the vision of Ghana beyond aid.
He noted that Ghana is privileged to have her president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as Co-Chair of the Eminent Group of Advocates, which was put together at the highest level by the United Nations Secretary General to champion the SDGs.

He commended the presence of the youth at the launch and tasked them to take interest in the SDGs because they have the greatest stake in the programme.
Mr. Winfred Afful of Media General, in his address, urged the public to use the opportunity the raffle presents to educate themselves even as they earn prizes.
“Learning makes us know and knowledge empowers us to act and have control over our lives and choices,” he stated.
Other speakers from Svani Group, the Unit, Mobile Content, University of Ghana and DJ Switch all added their voices to the call for action for people to see the SDGs as a common course that needs collective actions.
They stressed it is time to act towards the implementation of the SDGs.
President Nana Akufo-Addo established the SDGs Advisory Unit in the Office of the President in 2017 after his appointment, to provide technical, policy and strategic support to his advocacy efforts on the SDGs.
Anchoring the Unit in the Office of the President shows his commitment to the SDGs Agenda and the importance he attaches to his role as co-Chair of the Eminent Group of Advocates.

The Unit’s core functions include exploring innovative ways of promoting advocacy and implementation of the SDGs, exploring ways of leveraging the President’s global role to support the domestic agenda and mainstreaming national actions to enhance the prospects of the SDGs.
