Ghana midfielder Moses Odjer was pleased to have played a key part in helping US Salernitana win 1-0 against league leaders Hellas Verona over the weekend.
The 22-year-old midfielder was making his first appearance of the Seria B season. He hasn’t featured in Stefano Colantuono’s set up the entire season.
The diminutive midfielder was recalled into the starting 11 for the first time against league leaders Hellas Verona on Saturday and couldn’t hide how he felt after spending time on the pitch once again.
“I enjoyed to be back on the pitch doing what I like and as a player I can always give my best when called upon by the coach. It feels good to be on the pitch than sitting on the bench” he told Ghanacrusader.com
Despite experiencing less playing time at the start of the season, the former Calcio Catania midfielder says he is resolute and battle ready to fight for a starting role in the first team.
“I want to work hard to get more minutes on the pitch and that is my focus now. I want to thank the fans for their support throughout the entire 90 minutes. They showed us some love and great supporting spirit and that was very helpful to get us the maximum three points.” Moses added.
Moses Odjer was one of few changes made by Stefano Colantuono, from previous set up that drew 1-1 with Ascoli Calcio. He started in a three man midfield alongside Di Tachio and Castiglia.
Odjer’s decent passing ranges plus a couple of vital interceptions on the day proved key in ensuring that Salernitana would not care about a ball winner in midfield.
Gambia Striker Lamin Jallow was the hero of the day for Salernitana, his 68th minute strike was enough to separate the two sides in that encounter.
The Ghana international was full of praise for team mate Lamin Jallow, who he played alongside at Calcio Catania.
“Jallow is a great guy, very hardworking player in the team. We were both at Calcio Catania and now here together. We both speak English so we share a lot in common but I think we’ve got great guys here at the club and that will help the team achieve its target this season.”
Moses Odjer played full throttle in that particular encounter at the Stade Arechi and would be eyeing more starting roles in subsequent games.
US Salernitana are currently 7th on the league table after 6 games. They play Cremonese next weekend in an away fixture.
