Though Asante Kotoko’s exit from the CAF Confederations cup last weekend sparked speculations about the future of head coach, C.K Akonnor, the gaffer has affirmed his will to continue in the post but did not mince words on a possible departure from the Kumasi-based club if the need be.
Speculation had been rife, placing Akonnor’s place in the club in doubt, with talks of Kotoko bosses looking for a new hand on the wheel.
After succeeding in progressing his side to the group stages of the continental competition, Akonnor’s failure to crossover to the knockout stages of the CAF Confederation cup meant opinions were surely going to be divided with reference to his future with the Kumasi club.
In defending his commitment to the club whiles expressing the will to continue at the helm, Akonnor asserted, “I am not bothered about rumors going on that i will be sacked’.
He affirmed the progress Kotoko has made under his watch and believes therer arer better days ahead ,however, he would not fight to stay if he felt unwanted by the club’s hierarchy.
