The Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC) Foundation as part of its corporate social responsibilty towards providing infrastructure broke grounds for the construction of an ultramodern Astro-turf for the community of Effiakuma in the Western Region.
This is the second of the six turfs to be constructed this year after the Bekwai SDA Senior High School turf in Ashanti Region on 6th, July, 2018. Another will be constructed in Kumasi, one will be done in Tarkwa T and A. One is earmarked for Duayaw Knwanta and Koforidua in the Brong Ahafo and Eastern Region respectively.
Speaking at the ceremony on Friday, 13th, July, 2018, MP Effia Constituency, Hon Joseph Cudjoe said that, ”It comes with a great joy to me and the people of Effiakuma and that this same pitch, that’s seen many talents come through, would benefit from his major facelift from the GNPC.”
”I’m of the firm belief that this facility would inspire and help unearth a lot more talent for the benefit of this area, Western Region and Ghana at large,” he added.
The foundation plan to put up six Astro-turfs every year for the next four years.
Dignatries present at the ceremony include, Hon. Gifty Kusi, Deputy Western Regional Minister and the Chairman of GNPC fdn Board of Trustees, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi.
