Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been stepping up preparations ahead of the specially arranged friendly game against the senior national team, Black Stars, at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday.
Kotoko held their final training this morning at the Adako Jachie training base with new head coach leading the team with special training drills.
Due to the cancellation of the Black Stars AFCON 2019 double header qualifier against Sierra Leone by CAF. The FIFA/CAF Normalization committee arranged a special friendly game between the Ghana Premier League side and the senior national team
Amos Frimpong who is captain of Asante Kotoko has been talking up the team’s preparations ahead of the clash. The versatile defender told asantekotokosc.com that the game would be a tough test but the team are battle ready to make a huge statement with their performance on Friday.
“It would be a difficult task, but I trust my colleagues to pull strings together to cause a surprise,” stresses Amos Frimpong.
“It is a privilege for us to play with our senior national team. We would not be pushovers; no. We are coming to prove ourselves and make a statement not just for us as Kotoko players, but also the Premier League and all local players.”
The game would be Charles Kwablan Akonnor’s first game since he took charge of Kotoko as head coach but experienced defender Amos Frimpong says his colleagues are ready to unleash what they’ve learnt so far under C.K Akunnor.
“Our supporters should come in their numbers to witness good football and also urge us on to victory,”
The Black Stars will hold their final training session on Thursday evening at the Baba Yara stadium as they prepare to face the former champions of the Ghana premier league.
The game is expected to Kick Off at 4 pm at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Friday.
