Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako, has clarified that contrary to the rumour making rounds President of the Ghana Football Association(GFA), Kwasi Nyantakyi never said he has President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his pocket in the yet-to-be premiered investigative documentary of Anas Aremeyaw Anas and the BBC on corruption at the GFA,
Nana Akufo-Addo earlier, reported the GFA’s president to the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, 22 May 2018, after having been privy to the Number 12 undercover documentary, which captured the FA boss clinching investor deals in the name of the president and vice-president.
Reports are rife that, Mr Nyantakyi was captured in the documentary allegedly telling investors that he had Nana Akufo-Addo in his pocket and that with $5million and $3million for the president and his vice respectively, the investors would be able to do their business safely in the country and reap the results.
Social media is also awash with memes of Mr Nyantakyi having Nana Akufo-Addo in his pocket.
Reacting to this development on News File on Accra-based Joy FM on Saturday, 26 May 2018, Mr Baako clarified that, Mr Nyantakyi did not say he had the president in his pocket.
He told show host Samson Lardy Anyenini that: “There is this thing that I hear that somebody said somebody is in his pocket. There is no such thing on the tape. Maybe it’s an interpretation of what somebody said, that is what is being put out that way. Categorically, there is nothing like Kwasi Nyantakyi saying the president is in his pocket, but he talks about his influence that he will gain if the monies come and how they will take over the country. I suspect it’s an interpretation somebody is making. I’m only talking of the exactitude.”
This that has sent shivers down the spine of those in the football fraternity will be premiered on 6 June 2018.
