Following reports of an impending shake-up in the Black Stars technical team, it looks like the Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is not happy with certain commendations put before the body by the head coach of the Black Stars,James Kwesi Appiah.
According to inside sources, the call for the removal of Maxwell Konadu was initiated by the head Coach of the Black Stars ,Kwesi Appiah, who is unhappy with his second Assistant on certain scores.
Earlier in February, there were several reports in the media that former Black Maidens coach Mas Ud Didi Dramani has been made to replace Maxwell Konadu ,a report which didn’t go down well with the members of the Normalization committee who believe it was against the Corporate rule to yank a member of the technical team without a substantive reason.
Meanwhile, Konadu was not the only one fingered in the dismissal list prepared by Kwesi Appiah, the Black Stars equipment officer Ishmael Hamidu was aslo pencilled to be sacked from the team.
But for certain reasons,it looks like this call has not been endorsed by the NC, who believe a massive shake up in the technical team of the Black Stars technical would rather distract the team from acheiving its dream at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Recently ,Kwesi Appiah and Ibrahim Tanko went on a European tour to track Ghanaian players for national team considerations and clearly it looked like Maxwell Konadu was sidelined from that particular exercise.
With all these on the table ,it tells there is danger looming as far as the relationship amongst the three national team coaches is concerned.
With the enthrenched position of the Normalization Committee not to supervise the sacking of Maxwell Konadu, it is understood that Coach Kwesi Appiah has resorted to using the Ministry of Youth and Sports specifically the Minister Isaac Asiamah to do his bidding for him. A call which could spark a great deal of tension within the team.
It can only get interesting as the days go by and with the clock ticking faster than expected ahead of the 2019 AFCON.
The Normalization Committee whose mandate could be extended until August 2019 would certainly have the ultimate power bar any influence from government to ensure that Maxwell Konadu stays as one of the assistant coaches of the senior national team.
It was widely reported that Konadu’s position would be taken by the assistant coach of Danish side Nordsjaelland, Masud Didi Dramani, who is expected to join Ibrahim Tanko on the bench of the team at the tournament in Egypt in June but with recent happenings it looks dicey and could take a while for such a shake up to happen.
