The new managers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) have announced to undertake an exercise that will see some parts of Accra, have power outages for the first time since they took over management of the company, beginning today, March 12, 2019.
The announcement was made by the company on the ECG’s website on Monday, March 11, and indicated that, the exercise has become necessary the Power Distribution Services Ghana (PDS) take over management and operations of the state – owned company, which requires PDS to continue with previously scheduled maintenance of the Network.
The emergency maintenance work, according to the company will improve its service delivery, but will also lead to outage from 10:00am to 5:00pm in the areas pointed out in the notice.
The areas are Cantonments, Labone, South La Estates, UNDP Flats, Alisa Hotel and Hotel Wangara. Other areas which will also experience outage are, AU Village, North Osu Estates, NAFTI, Agbogba Town, Bohye, Ashongman Village, Ashongman Pure Water, Madina Zongo and Madina Firestone.
REDCO Flats, Ritz Junction, Adenta Barrier, Frafraha, Ampomah, Ashiyie, Amanfrom, Amrahia, Otinibi, Adoteiman, Danfa, Kweiman, Malejor, Oyibi, Adamrobe and surrounding areas, will equally be affected by the exercise.
PDS has however expressed its regret over any inconvenience that will arise out of this exercise.
