NDC Releases Dates for Volta, Oti Regional Elections

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has released dates for vetting and holding of elections of regional executives in the Volta and the Oti regions, following an earlier decision to halt the process.

General Secretary of the Party, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, in a release indicated the party will proceed to vet all aspirants who had previously filed their nominations in both regions, except for the Chairmanship position in the Oti Region, which is not vacant.

Nominations, he said, the vacancy will be opened for the Regional Chairman position of the Volta Region, from Thursday 16th May, 2019 to Saturday 18th May, 2019 followed by filling of nomination on Thursday 23rd May to Friday, 24th May, 2019.

NDC VOLTA AND OTI REGION HOLDS REGIONAL ELECTIONS

The Functional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress announces the resumption of electoral activities for the election of Regional executives in the Volta and the Oti regions, following the earlier decision to halt the process.

By this new decision, the party shall proceed to vet all aspirants who had previously filed their nominations in both regions, except for the Chairmanship position in the Oti Region which is not vacant.

Nominations will be opened for the position of Regional Chairman of the Volta region which has now become vacant, from Thursday, 16th May, 2019 to Saturday, 18th May, 2019. It will be followed by filing of the nomination on Thursday 23rd May to Friday, 24th May, 2019.

Consequently, the following dates shall apply to all positions in the Volta and Oti regions:

Vetting          –           Monday 27th May, 2019

Elections       –           Saturday, 15th June, 2019

For the avoidance of doubt, please take note that regional elections for all the other eight (8) regions affected by the creation of the regions will be held on Saturday 25th May, 2019.
