NDC MP clears Alan Kyeremanteng in $100,000 scandal

The NDC Member of Parliament for Sekyere Afram Plains, Hon. Alex Adomako-Mensah has jumped to the defence of the Trades and Industry Minister in the $100,000 scandal.

According to the MP, the Flagstaff should be blamed as they acted as the liaison between the government and the organizers of the Ghana Expatriate Awards.

He however chided the sector minister for sleeping on his job.

“Alan Kyerematen is not aware. It happened under him but he is not part. …everything was between the organizers and the Flagstaff House “

“People are drawing him into it because he is the sector minister. …he is innocent”

It has earlier emerged that the Trade ministry provided account details to collect dollar-denominated cheques from expatriates interested in sponsoring a dinner to award expatriates.

The ministry collected the money on behalf of the event organiser, Millennium Excellence Foundation, in order to assure the sponsors that the event was credible.

A leaked document revealed that the expatriates were charged to pay an amount of $ 100,000 before they could sit close the president at the Ghana Expatriate Business Awards (GEBA).

This development prompted the president to query Trades Minister.

President Akufo Addo has since cleared Mr: Alan Kyeremanteng of any wrongdoing after he responded to the query.
