NC Special Cup: Asante Kotoko vs Eleven Wonders – LIVE UPDATES

HELLO! Good afternoon and welcome to the Baba Yara Stadium where Asante Kotoko are playing Techiman Eleven Wonders in match day twelve of the Normalization Special Cup. We join proceedings in the 21st minute with the scores goalless.

Songne Yacouba is back with a spot on the bench for the Porcupine Warriors after missing in actions for sometime now.

This is how both teams line up.

Asante Kotoko:

21′ Abdul Fatawu’s strike is headed out of the penalty box, and a rebound has resulted in a corner kick whose resultant kick has been headed across the face of goal by Wahab Adams.

Best chances so far from Kotoko who have started well as they did in the first leg

28′ Obed Owusu would go into the referee’s books after bad foul on Alfred Opoku.

31′ HUGE MISS! Obed Owusu wins the ball from Francis Antwi and sets up Abdul Fatawu who wastes time on the ball until he is crowded and the ball retrieved.

34′ Beautiful turn by Obed Owusu who sees his through pass to Emmanuel Gyamfi disconnected into the penalty box as the ball has is intercepted to safety.

37′ Kotoko have a goal scoring opportunity as Abdul Fatawu stands behind a free-kick two yards from the penalty box… Can the expert connect it to break the virginity of the game?

40′ Fatawu’s strike goes straight into the human wall and off to safety. Relieve for the wonder club.

Those of us presuming that Kotoko would be pressing with relentless zeal from the off on the first-leg evidence have been disabused. They seem happy for it to be far more open this afternoon.

45′ There will be no more action in the game as the referee has blown for the end of the first-half. It has been an entertaining half with Kotoko dominating play here. Kotoko 0-0 Eleven Wonders

46′ Off we go. No changes. Kotoko attack straight up the middle, Fatawu taking it through the inside-right channel until he feeds it to Obed Owusu who lays it off to Emmanuel Gyamfi stepping in from the left. He hurries his shot as Wonders block his effort.

52′ Wahab Adams stretches to clear the ball to safety as he thwarts a counter-break by Eleven Wonders. The tempo of the game is gradually increasing in the second department.

57′ CHANGE! CK Akonnor effects his first change in the game with Songne Yacouba coming in to replace Abdul Fatawu. Big applauds from the supporters for the two players.

67′ Alfred Opoku is caught offside as he runs towards Alidu Fuseini’s through ball. The game is still barren.

70′ CHANGE! Stephen Nyarko has replaced Jordan Opoku and the midfielder makes an instant impression on the game with a nice through ball which has been lobbed over the bar by Songne Yacouba.

75′ PENAAAAAAAAAAAALTY for Asante Kotoko

76′ GOOOAALLL! Alhassan Tahidu spots the direction but finds Abdul Ganiyu’s strike too quick to get to. Kotoko 1-0 Wonders.
80′ SAVE: Felix Annan is on alert as he pulls a fine save to Kwayie Simms’ free kick close to the penalty box.
This is how Ganiu converted the Penalty.

90′ There would be four minutes of time added on. Eleven Wonders trailing by a lone goal.

90+3′ Obed Owusu is fouled as he attempts to enter the Wonders’ penalty box, but the resultant kick has been shot into the human wall by debutant Songne Yacouba.

90+4 PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!! The referee has blown for the end of the game and it’s Asante Kotoko who dramatically won by a goal to nil courtesy Abdul Ganiu’s 76th-minute strike from the spot. Kotoko 1-0 Eleven Wonders.

Thank you for joining us. Bye
