The most wanted Chief Executive Officer of troubled gold dealership company, Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah, popularly known as (NAM1) has been set free in the United Arab Emirates after winning his court case.
Although it cannot be immediately confirmed, spokesperson of NAM1 claims, his boss has been acquitted and discharged by the court on Tuesday morning. Adding to this, officials at the communications unit of Menzgold has also said, their would, in no time, make public the details of the case.
The court has since, reportedly ordered the Dubai – based company, Horizon Royal Diamonds DMCC which called for his arrest and later prosecution, to pay him all outstanding debts.
But Graphic Online has reported that, sources close to the Police CID have indicated, they don’t have information on the latest development in relation to the court case in Dubai.
It however reports that, a highly placed source at the CID said since there was an INTERPOL alert on NAM1, it is expected he would be handed over to Ghana Police for him to face the criminal charges against him in Ghana when the court case in Dubai is completed.
Meanwhile, the Head of Communications of the embattled gold company, Menzgold, Nii Amarh Amarteifio, has taken to social media to celebrate the victory of NAM1.
In a post on Facebook in which NAM 1 is spotted with a crown on his head with inscriptions, “The Man is NAM 1, we are by you,” and “Victory is the Lord’s”, he said, “Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. To God be the Glory.”
Should the claims of the company over NAM1 been set free in Dubai be true, it will mark the beginning of yet another journey to defend himself in court again. This is because, charges have been pressed against the CEO of Menzgold over locked up cash in the firm by its customers.
Nana Appiah Mensah is to face a case of defrauding by false pretence and money laundering, as a warrant for his arrest was issued by the Accra Circuit Court, few months ago.
There were also warrants for the arrest of Rose Tetteh believed to be the wife of Nana Appiah Mensah and Benedicta Appiah, said to be his sister, whom, anything is yet to be told about their whereabouts.
But a number of demonstrations have been held by desperate and angry customers of the gold dealership company, seeking to have their funds back but all to no avail.
NAM 1 was arrested in Dubai sometime in December 2018 following a report to security authorities by a Dubai based company that he could be connected to an alleged botched gold business with a Ghanaian company, one of whose officials was known to him.
He is said to have landed in Dubai hoping to retrieve some $39 million owed Menzgold by the Dubai-based company, Horizon Royal Diamonds DMCC, for the supply of gold.
