An Accra Circuit Court presided over by Mrs Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye, has granted Lance Corporal Godzi Frederick Amanor, who assaulted a female customer of Midland Savings and Loans, a GHS60,000 bail with two sureties.
Three other staff of the bank, Joycelyn Kukua, the Operations Manager of the Company; Shirley Portia Anaman, Customer Care Officer; and Prince Ayensu, a driver, all of whom were charged for abetment, were also granted bail on Thursday, 9 August 2018.
The victim, Patience Safo was ruthlessly assaulted by Lance Corporal Amanor while holding a baby.
She had insisted on withdrawing a sum of GHS270 from the facility as her previous attempts had failed due to network problems.
The officer, who was serving as a security detail at the financial institution, was called to escort the client out, but ended up beating her in the process.
He has already been interdicted and his uniform and all other police accoutrements taken from him.
Management of Midland Savings and Loans in a statement rendered an unqualified apology to the customer and compensated her with a two-bedroom house and some money.
