Asante Kotoko proved too strong for Elmina Sharks following their 2-0 win on match day 13 of the Zylofon Cash Premier League on Wednesday.
The Elmina based side came into the game with the hope of shocking the Kumasi giants but they were sent packing from the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Sharks started the game on a good note as they won the midfield battle – but they failed to convert the chances they created.
Before the break, Kotoko also had their moment but the away side’s back four prevented them from getting the ball at the back of the net.
In the second half, Kotoko took the game to Elmina Sharks and Emmanuel Gyamfi broke the deadlock on the 61st minute after he connected home Frederick Boateng’s cross.
The Porcupine Warriors pushed for more goals but they fluffed their lines.
Sharks couldn’t come to terms with Kotoko’s swift play as they conceded another goal courtesy Yacouba Songne’s header.
Kotoko held on to their two-goal lead to pick the three points at stake.
