Former Ghana international, Malik Jabir, believes C K Akunnor’s appointment as new head coach of Asante Kotoko is a step in the right direction.
Jabir who was head coach of Asante Kotoko in 2003 thinks among an array of coaches available on the local front, C K Akunnor was the perfect option to handle the team.
Speaking to Ghanacrusader radio on Monday, the opinionated coach revealed that he wasn’t surprised by the appointment of Akunnor as head coach of Asante Kotoko.
“C K Akunnor remains the favourite coach to handle Kotoko at the moment”
Akunnor signed a 3-year contract on Monday, replacing Paa Kwesi Fabian as head coach of the Kumasi based side.
As a former coach of Asante Kotoko, Malik Jabir had a few words for CK Akunnor on his new role.
“My advise to him is that, Kotoko is a traditional club with a lot of demands, he should be submissive to the management and the fans”.
He believes that setting a target for the coach now is not the best option .According to him, management of Kotoko must lower their expectations for their new coach.
“Kotoko should be realistic in their decisions, setting target for CK wouldn’t be the best. They should just tell him to build a strong team.”
Charles K. Akunnor has been tasked to help the team win the CAF Champions league or Confederation cup within the 3 years of his stay at the club.
