Liberian Election hit with fraud claims
One of Liberia’s political parties has called for a halt in announcing the Liberian election results of Tuesday’s 10 October elections.
In the statement ,the liberal party stated the fact that they were deeply troubled by the discovery of irregularities and fraud and threatened legal action against the National Election Commission .
The provisional election results are expected later today, Charles Brumskine of the Liberal Party was one of the contenders to succeed Africa’s first elected female president, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.
Correspondents say that irregularities would taint the country’s first democratic transfer of power in more than 70 years.
An NEC spokesman also stated that it was unaware of the Liberty Party’s complaint.
