Former President John Dramani Mahama has thrown his weight in support of the ‘Aagbe Wo Demonstation’ and has called on all NDC members to participate in the demonstration. His call comes in the wake of the violence which characterized the Ayawaso West Wougon Bye- election which saw alot of people injured as a result of gun shot fired during the election
In a twitter post, the Former President said ” I welcome the initiative of the Inter-Party Coalition for National Sovereignty and I encourage all members of the NDC to participate in the demonstration. Let’s show to the world that we stand for peace and that the violence displayed in AWW has no place in our democracy”
The ‘Aagbe Wo Demonstration’ to wit ‘they are killing us‘ is an NDC powered demonstration with the sopport of other eight opposition parties which is : the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the Convention People’s Party (CPP), the Ghana Consolidated People’s Party (GCPP), the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), the People’s National Convention (PNC), United Front Party (UFP), the EGLE Party and the All People’s Congress (APC) are hitting the street to register their displeasure in the violence that marred the recent election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
In a related development, the convener of the opposition parties coming together under the name: Inter-Party Coalition for National Sovereignty who also topple as the Chairman of the People’s National Convention, Bernard Mornah in a Citi News interview said they have obtained all the necessary clearance from the police to stage a peaceful demonstration.
“People without political affiliation will join. Fortunately, we’ve had discussions with the Ghana Police and we have reaffirmed our commitment to embark on a peace full and non-violent demonstration throughout the principles streets of Accra,” he said.
