Kotoko management has exonerated winger Emmanuel Gyamfi of wrongdoing over allegations of being poached by the President of AshantiGold, Kwaku Frimpong.
The development comes after the George Amoako-led management found no evidence to back rumours in the media that the player is flirting with Kwaku Frimpong for a possible move to the Obuasi-based club.
Emmanuel Gyamfi was alleged to have visited Kwaku Frimpong at his residence in Obuasi and taken money from same, hours before the Golden Clash 2nd leg game against Ashgold at the Len Clay Stadium which Kotoko lost 3-2.
The Kotoko winger explains to management that he went to Kwaku Frimpong’s house at Nhyieaso in Kumasi on September 17, 2018, and not in Obuasi on September 23, this year as was speculated in the media.
Emmanuel Gyamfi says that he went to Ridge Basic School at Nhyiaeso that day, and his longtime friend and AshantiGold player, Saddick Adams, arranged that they met there since the house is close to the school and he was residing in that house.
Gyamfi says he spent about 10 minutes charting with Saddick in the house, ‘Kwaku Frimpong came home just when he was about leaving and the only conversation that ensued between them was the Ashgold boss asking of his wellbeing”.
The player told management his side of the story, and we did not find any evidence to the contrary because the people spreading the rumour failed to provide evidence to the contrary, ‘so we just cautioned him to be careful the way he relates with players and officials of other clubs while he reaffirmed his allegiance to Kotoko.”
