As earlier disclosed, and as part of the activities lined up for the John A. Kufuor Foundation (JAKF) yearlong fund raising initiative, 80 for 80 campaign, there will be a fund raising dinner in his honour. The dinner will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, 12th May, 2018 at 7 p.m prompt. The Fund raising dinner also doubles as the Campaign’s inaugural activity.
The Eighty for Eighty (80 for 80) campaign hopes to raise eighty million cedis (approx. USD15 Million) for the JAKF endowment fund, aimed at sustaining the vision of H.E John A. Kufuor, the Chairman of the foundation. The former president envisions an establishment of a peaceful, well governed and economically sustainable society in Ghana and Africa on the pillars of the foundation -leadership, governance and economic development.
In raising 80 million Ghana cedis, the foundation plans to allocate amounts for its projects as follows; 5 million dollars will be used to support the construction of an ultra-modern center for leadership and governance at the University of Ghana, Legon. When completed, it will provide leadership and governance training to both Ghanaians and the international community
The remaining 10 million dollars will be invested into the establishment of the Kufuor Endowment fund. The returns on the investment in this fund will be used in facilitating the various projects of the foundation. These projects include:
- The Kufuor Scholars Program (KSP) which provides transformational leadership training and mentoring for young tertiary students.
(It is worthy of note that the program has successfully trained and mentored 34 scholars since its inception in 2016 and is about to induct the latest batch of 25 students);
- The Kufuor Young Entrepreneurs Network,
- Annual lecture Series on Governance and Development,
- The Kufuor Election Observers Groups, and
- The Kufuor Prize for Best Community Leadership.
The Fund raising dinner will be chaired under the distinguished patronage of Her Ladyship Georgina Theodora Wood, former Chief Justice and Rt. Hon Edward Doe Adjaho, former Speaker of Parliament.
The dinner will be graced by notable guests from all walks of life and corporate institutions that share the commitment to Ghana’s progress. Patrons will also get the opportunity to experience the vision of former President John Kufuor and his post-presidency achievements being realized through the Foundation.
It promises to be a night of fun and celebration of Ghanaian excellence.
