Kumasi Asante Kotoko are considering appointing Yusif Abubakar as the head coach of the club according to reports.
The former Kpando Heart of Lions coach left his role at Aduana Stars after experiencing a topsy-turvy first round in the Zylofon Cash Premier League and in the CAF Champions League.
Yusif Abubakar has had a short spell with Asante Kotoko’s eternal rivals Accra Herats of Oak as well.
The 55 year old manager boasts an impressive CV having worked in the Ghanaian football space for a while and with some of Ghana’s top clubs in recent times.
Following the resignation of Paa Kwesi Fabin, the position of head coach has become vacant with deputy coach Patron Akakpo acting as the head coach of the Porcupine Warriors.
On the other hand new Chief Executive Officer of the club George Amoako, according to inside sources, deems Yusif Abubabak a better option despite an array of top names emerging week in and week out. Also , his availability for free, following his departure at Aduana Stars last June, makes him the most likely and perfect option for the job.
Abubakar won the Ghana Premier League title with Berekum Chelsea in 2011 as deputy coach and head coach with Aduana Stars in the 2017/18 season.
Former AshGold and Hearts of Oak coach, C.K Akunnor , former Wa All Stars coach Enos Adipa and Abdul Razak (Golden Boy) have all been linked with the Asante Kotoko coaching job.
It is understood that hiring a foreign coach is out of the window for now.So the race and hunt for the best and available coach continues for the new management members at the club.
