Head Coach of the Black Meteors,Ibrahim Tanko, has set sights on Tokyo 2020 olympic games. Ghana’s male Olympic team will be up against Gabon on March 23 in the first leg of the 2019 U-23 Africa cup of nations qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.
This serves as a clear route to the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo. The last time Ghana’s male U-23 team made it to the Olympic games was in 2004 in Athens where Ghana crashed out in the group stages.
For coach Ibrahim Tanko and Michael Osei his assistant, it is about putting the country on the stage where it belongs. But that would not materialise until they cross the first hurdle ,which is a two legged tie with Gabon.
“Our dream is to qualify for Tokyo 2020” Tanko told the media
Michael Osei has been with the lads for close to two weeks since Ibrahim Tanko was on national assignment, scouting players for the Black Stars. Meanwhile ten foreign based players have been invited to help the team for the first leg ,a development Tanko is very much impressed about.
