The outgoing National Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party has expressed his gratitude to the youth of the party for the opportunity to serve them.

Sammy Awuku says the experience he has gotten during his tenure as Youth Organiser of the party has been a learning curve and has thought him to be humble.

“I am grateful to all…NPP youth wings across the globe. To my Secretariat, Regional and Constituency Youth Organisers and TESCON, I could not have pulled it off without you… this position has been a learning curve and a humbling one for that matter,” he wrote in a farewell statement.

He also touted some of his achievement as Youth Organiser, stating that the capacity building courses he organised were pivotal in restoring faith in the youth of the party.

“I strongly believe that to create an effective youth wing, it was expedient to undertake capacity building courses to enable our regional and constituency youth leaders to restore faith in our youth as well as win over the others to garner their support,” he said.

He further expressed gratitude to the youth for their diverse contribution to help the NPP wrestle power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“Finally, I also want to use this opportunity to thank the youth wing of the party, volunteer groups and all the teeming youth for their immense commitment to the party…you all contributed in securing us a resounding victory in 2016,” he said.

“It is my fervent prayer that the next Youth leader will achieve more than I did and further build upon our success story,” Mr Awuku said in the statement.

“I wish the NPP youth well as they go to the Polls again to elect my successor,” he added.

The NPP is set to hold its National Delegates Congress on Saturday, July 7, 2018, in the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua, to elect new national executives for the party.
