Head coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kim Grant , has explained the reason behind striker Kwadwo Obeng Junior’s early substitution against Inter Allies on Wednesday.

The former Nea Salamina striker was replaced by Kofi Kordji in the first half of the game and when the manager was asked about the reason for such an early change, Grant explained that his supporting striker was having a hard time in the game and that was normal in football.

“I thought he had a bad day in the office, and it happens in the game .The other time he was the hero at Liberty, today things didn’t go quite well for him so it is a squad thing, we can keep rotating,” Grant told the media after the game.

Kwadwo Obeng Junior has scored twice in the competition already. It is only Joseph Esso who has scored more goals than him in this current Hearts squad.

According to Kim Grant, taking Obeng off early in the game would give him the opportunity  to bounce back in confidence.

Obeng Junior was not himself on the day as he looked slow in building up and above all wasted a clear goal scoring opportunity, something unusual of him.

Hearts of Oak will travel to the Tema Sports Stadium next Sunday to kick start the second round of the Special competition against Inter Allies.

The Phobians are currently 3rd on the log, with Karela United who are on top of the pool and WAFA SC second with a better goal difference but tied on 12 points with Hearts .
