Robert Sowah Addo and Joseph Esso were the heroes of the day as Hearts of Oak eased past 10- man Inter Allies. Hearts of Oak after last weekend’s defeat to WAFA had plans of giving a positive response in front of their home fans.
After a near boring first 45 minutes with almost fewer chances created by both sides, it was Hearts of Oak who started the second half stronger, probing the Inter Allies defence on a few occasions until they finally got an answer through defender Robert Sowah Addo.
The centre half rose higher above every player in the box to nod home a corner whipped in by Christopher Bonney in the 58th minute. The goal came few minutes after Inter Allies got a man sent off.
Goalkeeper Said Salifu was giving his marching orders by the centre referee for handling the ball outside the 18-yard box to deny Joseph Esso a clear goalscoring opportunity.
Esso would later get on the scorer’s sheet finally after he raced down the left flanks on a counter attack, went past the Inter Allies goalkeeper before slotting the ball home to seal the victory for the Phobians.
Kim Grant and his charges ended the day with a perfect scoreline. Joseph Esso was adjudged the man of the match.
