The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) on Wednesday organised a media interaction session with the intent of educating the media about the technicalities of taekwondo sport ahead of the 1st Ghana Open International tournament slated for 18-19 August, 2017 at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium.
Taekwondo is one of the fastest growing sport in Africa with Ghana being one of the giants on the continent.
It is a sport made of three rounds with two minutes in each round. There are three juries who determine the score to be given to each athlete thus when a technique is executed with perfection extra marks is awarded in addition to the mechanical scoring board.
The international tournament will be the first of it kind in Sub Saharan Africa and over 118 black belters will be expected to participate in the tournament.
Twenty (20) international referees are expected to arrive to tomorrow which includes three juries and one Ghanaian referee.
