Gomoa Fetteh Acid Robbers Slapped With 20 Years Jail Term


Two robbers, who attacked a mobile money vendor at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region have been slapped with 20 years jail term.

The sentence was pronounced on the two, Daniel Amoah and Yaw Danso by the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court who in March, 2019 stormed the shop of Kate Aidoo, poured acid on her and bolted with some unspecified amount of money.

The two, were charged with conspiracy to commit crime to wit robbery and robbery.

The robbers on March 25, 2019, went to buy GHc10 worth of credit from the mobile money vendor but went back later under the pretext of buying airtime. In the process Yaw Danso, one of the robbers, removed a container filled with concentrated acid and poured it on her.

However, screams from Kate Aidoo when the acid touched her body attracted people to the scene who gave the two thieves a hot chase. Daniel Amoah and Yaw Danso were then apprehended and handed over to the Gomoa Ojobi Police Command.

Following the incident, Kate Aidoo was first rushed to the Village of Hope Clini, were she received first aid and given a referral letter to the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Doctors who were attending to the 23-year-old mobile money vendor explained that, the young lady might not be able to see again considering the impact of the acid which was poured directly on her face by two thieves.
