Ghana needs to tap into the rich tiers of golf and draw from the turnovers that the sport can offer, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu has said.
The Asantehene trumpeted the need for sports authorities to establish a balance in enthusiasm across all sports, emphasizing a fair spread of attention to lesser-financed sports in order for Ghana to be a well-rounded sports country.
Speaking at the closing session of the 62nd Asantehene Open Golf Championship at the Royal Golf Club (RGC) in Kumasi, he insisted that the time had come for Ghana to develop the sport and harness talent in golf because of the investor pull the sport has across the globe.
” It is time for us to realize that we are missing out on golf and its ability to attract investors”, he asserted.
Pouring out his concern for the nation’s sports development agenda, he underlined that “we should break away from the football bubble”.
The Asantehene, a known golf enthusiast, is of the conviction that golf should be mainstreamed into the nation’s sporting agenda, the spoils will be to the greater good.
