Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) President, Ben Nunoo Mensah, has entreated the Ghana Taekowndo Federation (GTF)to solve the differences to thrive the sports which is one of the fastest growing sports in the country.
There is a currently a seeming impasse in the taekowndo fraternity with a newly formed association who claim authority over the sports other than GTF who are recognised by World Taekowndo and the GOC.
According to Nunno Mensah who doubles as the President of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation, resolving their differences is of great essence to the federation so as to ensure unity across board to help the sport thrive.
He said: “I know there are other groups of Taekwondo federations who claim there are they are the rightful association but the GOC and IOC recognises only one body thus GTF, so I entreat you to solve your differences to help the sport move forward.”
Notably, the 2017 Ghana Open International Taekwondo Championship will be held at the Sports Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium on the 18-19 August, 2017.
