Black Stars and CD Leganes striker, Kwabena Owusu has questioned the capacity of Ghanaians in understanding the game of football.
Owusu’s comment comes on the back of backlash the Black Stars are receiving after their failure to win the targeted AFCON 2019 which was eventually won by Algeria.
The team who were in high hopes of breaking the 37-year trophy drought exited the tournament at the Round of 16 with a 4-5 penalty loss to Tunisia.
Speaking on Gh One TV, the 22-year-old striker says unlike Europe where supporters are behind their team, Ghanaians don’t understand football and that’s why they resort to bashing the team.
“Africans at times we don’t understand certain things. In Europe, if you go to a tournament and face an early exit like Ghana did, they don’t complain about it. They understand football but I think Ghanaians don’t.”
According to the pacy attacker, European teams handle the situation differently and professionally.
“After a poor tournament, Europeans won’t blame players and coaches rather they will go back to the drawing board and correct the mistakes going forward,” he stated.
Owusu was one of Ghana’s revelations at the tournament.
