“Ghanaian Players Are Denied Visa To Sweden Because Of School Certificates And Weighing Cards”- Yusif Chibsah
Former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko midfielder Yusif Chibsah has disclosed that Ghanaian footballers who are denied visas by the Swedish and Royal Danish Embassies in Accra is because they do not provide their school certificates and weighing cards.
According to the PFAG official, the reason given is not tangible enough to deny players the opportunity to sign for clubs in the European country.
Three Kotoko players were supposed to complete a deal with a Swedish club in February but that deal hit a snag due to the difficult visa requirements by the Swedish embassy in Accra.
“They are demanding for school certificates and weighing cards before they will be given a visas. What happens to players who don’t have school certificates and those born in the villages without a weighing cards?, he explained to Happy FM on why the players were refused visas.
He added: “The Swedish Embassy in Ghana is worrying our players . They’ve denied many talented players from pursuing their dreams outside.
He called on government to intervene in the situation as it is curtailing the dreams of many young Ghanaian players who want to pursue their career in Europe.
“Government,Ministry of Youth and Sports and Ministry of Foreign Affairs must come on Board and address this issue because the treatment is unfair and unjust. Denying players with the right documents from traveling is bad”.
“We will petition the authorities to look into this matter because it’s very bad”, he concluded
