Ghana midfielder Christian Atsu has done something out of the ordinary by taking to social media platform Twitter to demand when the Black Stars will start training ahead of the African Cup of Nations (Afcon) in Egypt this year.
Today at 09:23 GMT, the diminutive midfielder posted on his Twitter handle, “When is the black stars starting training?”
His question drew a flurry of reactions with some lambasting him for doing an unprofessional thing.
While many laughed off his sense of humour apparently to diffuse the current storm over the captaincy of Asamoah Gyan, others were of the view that he could have easily cross-checked with coach Kwasi Appiah who had given him a chance in the provisional 29-man squad details of the stars training tour ahead of the tournament.
Christian Atsu, who now plays for Newcastle United in the English Premier League, holds some super attacking footballing skills which will be crucial in Ghana’s quest to end a 37-year-old trophy-less jinx at the Afcon this year.
Below is the 29-man list;
