FDA advises shop owners not to keep cats in their shops

Senior Regulator at the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mr Matthew

Gyan Nkum has advised shop owners not to  keep  cats in their shops.

According to him, cats poses a health challenge and compromises on the safety of the customers.

He stated that, some of the main reason why most shop owners do this is to prevent rodents from eating their products, nonetheless poses a threat to public health.

Mr Nkum after giving this advice at Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region explained that the urine and feaces of cats could contaminate products in the shop.

Mr Nkum urged the  shop owners to keep their shops clean and ensure that it items were safe for public consumption, Since a lot of unwholesome product flooded the market this season which affected public health.

He also urged the public to be vigilant in checking the expiry dates of products especially the consumables.
