Last Sunday’s disappointing loss in the CAF confederations cup in Zambia has stirred reactions from Kumasi Asante Kotoko fans. Many have expressed irritation at the tactical approach coach CK Akonnor employed in the searing encounter.
In a performance that drew the ire of Kotoko fans, the Ghanaian side looked out of sorts without a clear sense of bearing on the pitch. The team looked disorganized in defense as the fast-paced Nkana FC attack thrived on the slow recovery rate of the Kotoko back line.
After conceding from the penalty spot, Kotoko drew parity only to concede a minute later, short-living the hopes of salvaging something from the game when Kelvin Kampamba struck in the 21st minute. The Nkana striker got the Zambian side’s third and match-sealing goal to sum up a miserable afternoon for the Porcupine Warriors.
Kotoko fans have since the loss, been vocal in their displeasure and questioned coach Akonnor’s unimpressive tactics.
With the team lying bottom of the group, frustration has been rife in Kumasi, leaving the team with their work clearly cut out for them when they line up for the return encounter in Kumasi on the 3rd of March.
