Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach,C.K Akonnor, is optimistic that Burkina Faso striker Yacouba Songne, will soon rediscover his goal scoring form for the club and that he is unperturbed by the recent dip in goal scoring form.
The forward was very consistent with scoring in the build up to the CAF confederation cup campaign but he has failed to find the back of the net in both the qualifiers and the group stages of the competition. Songne who has assisted five goals in the CAF competition so far will be looking to open his account as Kotoko face Nkana in Zambia.
Reacting to fans’ concern about the scoring drought of Sogne, C.K. Akonnor thinks it is just about a matter of time and that his striker will start scoring again.
“Concerning Yacouba, he is doing everything that a footballer can do. He is not hiding from the chances to score. It is just that he is not finding the target. I feel sorry for him but he is doing everything possible to score. We are working on that and we are encouraging him. I just believe it is a matter of time.” He told the media.
Yacouba is part of Kotoko’s 18 man squad that flew to Zambia on Wednesday for their third group game of the CAF Confederation Cup against Nkana.
