Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo is his own nemesis. It is emerging that a rogue member of dreaded New Patriotic Party vigilante group, Seidu Yakubu Tayaba is the ring leader of the bandits that abducted two Canadian girls last week.
A combined team of national security operatives raided the hideouts of the group holding hostage the girls in Kumasi, with a supposed technical assistance from Canadian intelligence officers.
Seidu Yakubu Tayaba, a member of the Delta Force vigilante group that raided a court in Kumasi last year, [seen wearing red top] was being bundled into the Ghana Air force aircraft, bound for Accra.
Allegations are rife that the said Seidu Yakubu was once a personal bodyguard of Municipal Chief Executive of Asawase. He is also said to be a close pal of Ashanti regional chairman of the NPP, Mr. Antwi Boasiako aka Wontumi.
Yakubu Seidu was busted with four other Nigerians and some Ghanaians in a reported fierce gun battle exchanges.
There is uneasy disquiet and confusion in government circles as they rub their heads around how to arrange and confront this serious national disgrace in a communications approach.
The government has scheduled a press conference today in the afternoon to give more details.
Yesterday, the police effected the arrest of NDC National Chairman Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo with claims that he has a hand in the recent spate of kidnappings and arson that has rocked the country.
Today’s development however, has firmly put spokes in the actions of the NPP government headed by President Akufo-Addo.
Government spokespersons are at their wits’ end as to how come their own, will be caught in such a heinous crime which has badly battered the international image of Ghana.
The 19-year-old and 20-year-old women were abducted from the Ahodwo district in the Kumasi last week Tuesday evening at gun point.
