A relatively unknown banker and a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress, has announced his intention to contest the party’s flagbearership slot.
At a press briefing in Wa the Upper West Regional capital, Mr. Nurudeen Iddrisu, a banker, businessman and oil and gas consultant declared his intentions to contest as flagbearer of the NDC when the nominations are opened by the party’s leadership in 2018.
According to Mr Iddrisu, he has been engaging in a wide range of consultations regarding his intention with party leaders and faithfuls and the response appears positive.
Mr Iddrisu who hails from the Upper West region said the consultations done so far would be defective if he fails to consult the people of his home region.
“I therefore ceased the opportunity during my tour to do further consultations with the regional and constituency executive of the NDC in the region”.
He claimed he has received commendations for his intentions but was cautious with sanction put in place by the party towards the contest of the flag bearer of the NDC.
“I wish to respect the procedural directives of the party by retraining myself from any discussion on my vision for the party and the country in general at this stage”.
