Ghana’s under 23 male team, Black Meteors , will kick start their 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifiers campaign with a berth against neighbours Togo in November.
The new system implemented by CAF requires that teams compete in three double headers at the preliminary stages which also serves as qualifying rounds played in a knockout form.
Ghana have been drawn against Togo which will be honoured over two legs between November 12 and 20 ,2018.
Black Meteors would be eyeing a place in next year’s tournament to be held in Morocco. Ghana have missed out on the new Olympics Games qualifying tournament since its introduction in 2011.
Defending champions Nigeria plus a host of sides are exempted from the first round of the qualifiers, namely : Algeria, Congo, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Mali, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tunisia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
But in the first round, 30 countries are expected to take part with the second round scheduled for March 18th -26th 2019.
The third and final rounds to determine the seven nations to join hosts Egypt at the quadrennial competition is planned for June 3 to 11, 2019.
The 2019 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations is scheduled for November 8-22. The top three countries automatically qualify to represent the continent at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games football tournament.

Ghana would play at home first before travelling to Togo for the second leg tie.Team Ghana is expected to name a list of players to start preparations towards the task ahead.
