Black Meteors midfielder Kingsley Fobi says he and his colleagues will need the support of Ghanaians on Saturday as they face Gabon in the AFCON U-23 qualifier.
According to the UD Ibizia defender, it will be a dream come true to qualify to Tokyo 2020 especially looking at how Ghana have failed to qualify for the Olympic games since 2004.
“It is a big opportunity for me to come and represent my country and I am looking at helping Ghana win on Saturday“.He told Ghanacrusader.com
The Black Meteors will host their Togolese counterparts at the Baba Yara Stadium tomorrow with with the second leg to take place at the weekend. The support of Ghanaians will be needed at the Accra sports stadium on Saturday, and this is something Fobi thinks will help the team on the day.
“We will need the support of the fans and we know they will turn up in their numbers that day.”
The Black Meteors, who have not qualified for the Olympic games since Athens 2004, will see this an opportunity to get back into the competition.
Eleven foreign based players were handed call-ups into the Black Meteors by coach Ibrahim Tanko ahead of the the double header but as of Tuesday morning two players were missing in the squad.We understand Yaw Yeboah will arrive on Wednesday whiles Majeed Ashimeru will miss out due to an injury suffered during training.
Meanwhile, the Black Meteors will have to qualify for Egypt 2019 first before they can have a a chance to qualify for Tokyo 2020.
