Ghana international midfielder ,Benjamin Asamoah Akoto says he is happy with Doxa Katokopia’s form this season in the Cyprus league.
The former Atletico Madrid player thinks teamwork and the zeal to play for each other is the secret to his side’s early surge in the league.
“I think we are playing more like a team now, everyone is ready and working hard for the badge. We didn’t start well but I think our last 3 games have shown what we can do as a team. And I am happy about our progress.”
Doxa Katokopia beat Cyprus giants Apoel Nicosia 5-2 in a 7 goal thriller last month. Asamoah believes that particular result gave the team a sense of belief towards the rest of the games.
“That was a great result, we made history together and I think that game changed out mind going into every game.Every match is winnable and we can’t afford to let this vibe go away.We need to make use of it and work hard so that we achieve success at the end of the season.” He told Ghanacrusader.com
Doxa FC moved second on the league log after Saturday’s 2-1 win over Enosis Paralimni at home.
After a barren first 45 minutes at the Makario Stadium,Berat Sadik opened the goal scoring for Doxa Katokopia via a spot kick just seven minutes into the second half.
Omar Rowe drew the visitors level in the 71st minute.
But a fantastic team effort ensured that Doxa Katokopia got their tails up again before the final whistle. Berat Sadik got his second for the day right at the death.
24-year-old Benjamin Asamoah Akoto lasted the entire duration and received a yellow card in the 55th minute.
He has now featured in all 5 games for Doxa Katokopia this season.
Doxa Katokopia travel to the AEK Arena to face AEK Larnaca for their next game which will be coming up after the international break.
