Asante Kotoko will be playing Nigerian side Kano Pillars football club in the first round of the 2019/2020 CAF Champions League in August.
The Porcupine Warriors will play Kano Pillars in August 2019 at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano in the first leg of the competition with the return leg slated in two weeks in Kumasi following the draw held in the Egyptian capital Cairo this Afternoon.
Kano Pillars football club represents Kano State, Nigeria, and play their home games at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Kano Pillars is one of the top teams in the Nigerian Premier League, having won four of the Nigerian championships.
The club was founded in 1990 and will be making its six appearance in African Club Competition with their best coming in 2009 after reaching the semi-final stage having defeated giants, Al Ahly on their road.
Kotoko’s last appearance in the Champions League was in 2015 after the Porcupines were eliminated at the first round stage by Algerian side MC El Eulma.
The winner of the tie will progress to the final round and will face the winners of Hafia FC of Guinea and Tunisian heavyweights Etoile du Sahel game and success sends the team to the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
