Ajax have progressed to the semi-finals of the 2019 Uefa Champions league in a shock 2-1 win against Juventus that saw them advance to the semifinals 3-2 on aggregate on Tuesday night.
The Dutch side who stunned defending Spanish champions Real Madrid in the round of 16 at the Bernabeu yet again did the unthinkable in Italy after goals from Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt in the second half overcame Cristiano Ronaldo’s first half strike.
Ajax have now secured their place in the last four for the first time since 1996-97 and it’s tempting to say they will make it to the Champions league finals should they beat Manchester City or Tottenham.
Meanwhile in Spain, Messi produced another masterful Champions League performance to help Barcelona knock out Manchester United and fire Barcelona into the semi-finals for the first time in four years, scoring twice 5 minutes as Barca secured a comfortable 3-0 home win.
The result means they will face either Porto or Liverpool in the last four.
