The call from the NDC party leadersship seem to have gone down well with their followers who on thursday hit the streets of Accra. The ‘Aagbe Wo Demo’ to wit they are killing us comes in the wake of the violence which characterized the Bye – election held at Ayawaso West Wougon constituency.
The demonstrators, clad in red and black held placards with inscriptions such as “Mr. President protect our constitution’, ‘Nana Addo, ku yen preko’, ‘stop killing us’, ‘Bryan is evil’, ‘equality before the law’, ‘Boot 4 boot’, ‘Ghana is no longer safe’, ‘IGP must go’ among others.
The demostration witnessed the heavy presence of some party executives like, NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah; MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George; NDC Deputy Organizer, Eric Edem; National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, former Ministers under the NDC governemnt, Sherry Ayittey; Nana Oye Lithur; and former AMA Chief Executive, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije.
The demonstrators walked from the Obra Spot through to Farrisco traffic light, then UTC, the High Street, the Ministry of Interior, and the Police Headquarters before finally converging at the Jubilee House amidst singing drumming and chanting.
In addresing the crowd at the Flagstaff house, the NDC General Secretary hinted that they are giving the President a seven day ultimatum, if no action is taken they shall communicate the next action to their supporters.
